Hidden benefits to walking

Walking is one of the best forms of exercise out there. It not only helps our bodies become fitter and stronger,

Walking is often overlooked as exercise, but walking for a short amount a day, say at least 10 -30 minutes at a brisk pace, can do wonders to help maintain a healthy weight. Walking is a fantastic form of exercise, its low impact has the ability to build up stamina over time, which means you can really see benefits from walking regularly.

Studies have shown that the majority of people who regularly walk 30 or more minutes a day benefit from longer and deeper sleep. It is associated with moderate aerobic exercise and the endorphins that change the brains chemistry.

Taking a simple walk along a distraction free familiar route means your brain is able to process new thoughts and spark your imagination. 

Walking is a very low impact aerobic exercise and is ideal for keeping your bones healthy and joints flexible.

Taking a stroll out and about in the sunshine is great for your daily dose of vitamin D, helping boost your immune system.

Studies have shown in some cases walking regularly can lower your biological age from up to 16 years, with skin looking more fresh, as walking helps release stress hormones like cortisol.

Practise makes perfect. The more you walk over varying terrains, the more able you are to read and learn how to perceive and to react to them in the future.

Taking in fresh air while performing any cardiovascular physical exercise will help maintain healthier lungs and increase their capacity over time with more use.
