Q: Where is your favourite place to walk and why?
Gerena: KIlmartin Glen for the love of history and geology and a growing interest in flora and fauna.
Q: How long have you been a walking guide?
Gerena: I have been a walking guide for over 25 years.
Q: What food would you recommend to take on a walk?
Gerena: I like to bring a flask of soup, tuna fish sandwiches and some fruit pots for energy.
Q: How far do you normally walk in a week?
Gerena: I usually walk 32 kilometres.
Q: Do you use any specialist equipment?
Gerena: Yes, I like to use walking poles to help distribute the weight and they are great for crossing small streams.
Q: How fit do you need to be to go on our walking holiday?
Gerena: Fitness can be level walking with uphill sections and can walk for several hours without getting tired.
A: Do you walk in all weathers?
Gerena: Yes, I walk mostly in all weathers.
Q: What to wear on a walking holiday?
Gerena: My advice would be to bring waterproofs, lightweight fleece, walking boots worn in by 60 km.
Q: What one item should you always pack for a walking holiday? (Not walking boots)
Gerena: A blister pack, and zinc tape for hot spots on feet.
Q: Where was the last place you went on holiday?
Gerena: Orkney, Scotland
