Panicos has kindly taken some time out of his busy schedule to answer our questions.

Q: Where is your favourite place to walk and why?

Panicos: My favourite place to walk is the Akamas Peninsula, because of its unique rough landscapes and diversity with mountains and sea.

Q: How long have you been a walking guide?

Panicos: I have been a walking guide for over 20 years.

Q: What food would you recommend to take on a walk?

Panicos: Bananas, easy sandwiches and of course water.

Q: How far do you normally walk in a week?

Panicos: My feet do about 60 km a week.

Q: Do you use any specialist equipment?

Panicos:  No, I don’t use any special equipment.

Q: How fit do you need to be to go on our walking holiday?

Panicos: My thoughts are going towards good health and a regular walker, that’s all.

A: Do you walk in all weathers?

Panicos: Yes, I walk mostly in all weather, but it’s not possible in Cyprus in full summer, when it is too hot.

Q: What to wear on a walking holiday?

Panicos: The best outfit consists of, good walking shoes, long comfortable trousers and maybe a hat if it’s sunny, and of course a backpack.

Q: What one item should you always pack for a walking holiday? (Not walking boots)

Panicos:  A water bottle.

Q: Where was the last place you went on holiday?

Panicos: England

  1. What a lovely chap he is. He was our guide there some years ago when we went with Preferred Travel and stayed at The Pioneer Hotel which was also excellent. As a guide he had an in depth knowledge of the Island and some great walks. Top Man.
