Welcome Richard
We are excited to introduce Richard Forde, the newest member of our team, who will be overseeing group and trade sales. Richard brings a wealth of experience to the role, and we wanted to take the opportunity to get to know him a little better. Here’s what he had to say!
Can you tell us a little bit about your background and experience in the travel industry?
I started working on cruise ships for Royal Caribbean as a photographer at 21 for a few years, then have worked for several tour operators in the escorted touring sector. I most recently was Head of Trade and Partnerships for Newmarket Holidays for 14 years and Chairman of TIPTO.
What attracted you to join Involved Holidays, and what are you most excited about in your new role as Sales Director?
A fresh challenge with a relatively young company with great product and huge potential to grow.
As the head of group and trade sales, what do you see as the biggest opportunities for growth in this area?
I think that is twofold – firstly getting the name of Involved Holidays more well known to walkers and the travel trade in general, and secondly the large range of no single supplement holidays.
What unique value do you believe group walking holidays offer, especially for our target audience?
Walking is essential for physical and mental health and experiencing “the great outdoors”. Walking within a group offers also new friendships, company and the safety factor of not being alone with a local guide. Plus there is the cost, buy buying in as a group it is cheaper than doing this on your own.
Can you share a memorable travel or walking experience that’s had a big impact on you?
When walking on the Cornish Coastal path west climbing out of Perranporth, how you turn a corner on the cliff edge and suddenly you are in silence, alone with nature and your thoughts with just the Atlantic Ocean in front of you!
