For such a small island Malta has a lot to see and do, especially beautiful beaches and dramatic coastlines to explore, while taking in the awe-inspiring architecture found in the traditional towns and villages. This Mediterranean island is made for exploring all year round with its mild weather. The first walk along Dingli Cliffs are known by locals for being the place where the sky and sea meet at its highest point on the Maltese Islands, and offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea, the petite terraced fields, and the tiny uninhabited island named Filfla.
Many people will recall the story of Popeye, and on our second walk, you will have the opportunity to see Popeye Village, where the film in 1980 was produced, then on to the Majjistral Nature and History Park, a nature reserve in Mellieha, finishing in Golden Bay, one of the most popular beaches in the Manikata region. Our optional excursion to the island’s UNESCO listed capital Valletta, which was the European Capital of Culture for 2018 will not disappoint. The walled city was established in the 1500’s on a peninsula by the Knights of St. John, a Roman catholic order.
It’s well known for its museums, palaces and grand churches. Your final walk will take place on Gozo, Malta’s sister island and the second largest island of the Maltese archipelago. Gozo is much more rural and some people consider it to be more quaint with lush greenery. You will have the chance to visit Ta’ Pinu Basilica, the most famous place of pilgrimage for Maltese islanders, as well as the Wied il-Mielah, a serene valley, embraced by lush greenery and a meandering stream. This spot is ideal for nature lovers, offering picturesque trails and a peaceful retreat into the unspoiled beauty of Gozo’s landscape.
You will be able to see the Wied il-Mielaħ Window, a limestone natural arch located at the end of the valley. This natural arch is less well-known than the Azure Window (seen in the first series of Game of Thrones) which collapsed in March 2017 following a heavy storm.
